Is there a way I could join a team or get in touch with someone looking for more players? Can I speak to someone about joining the league?
Absolutely; please send your contact information to smcoedsoccer@smcoedsoccer.com and we will call you or put you in contact with a team captain.

Where are the games played? What is the name of the park and how do I get directions to the fields?

All games are played at Chancellors Run Regional Park, Chaptico Park, or Solomon’s Town Center Park, depending on field availability. You can find directions to the park and other area facilities on St. Mary’s County’s web page.
Pick-up games and summer season games are also subject to field availability. Please monitor the web site or Facebook Page for updated announcements.

When does your SPRING/SUMMER/FALL season start?

Our spring season starts in late March/early April and ends in late June/ early July depending when on when the Counties’ Recreation and Parks open or close the athletic fields. Our summer season is dependent of field availability. Our Fall season starts in late August / early September and runs through late November/ early December. Please monitor the web site for official start dates.

Do you play 11 vs. 11 on full fields?

No, we play our games on smaller than regulation sized fields with seven (or eight) players on a side; (six (seven) plus a keeper). If both captains agree, another player may be added on the field of play before or after the start of the game.

Is there a minimum number of female players required on the field?

We require two female players per side on the field at all times.

When are the games played?

The start times depend on the number of teams registered and field availability but generally, we start at 12:00 and end by 6:00.

When is the deadline to register my team for the upcoming season? When is the deadline for individual registration? Please let me know if I have already missed the deadline.

Team registration is closed two-weeks prior to the start of the season or as soon as we reach our cap-limit. An exception may be allowed to adjust for uneven number of teams. We do not close individual registration. It is the nature of the work in this area that players move in and out of the area frequently. If you are interested in playing, we will make every attempt to place you on a team. However, there is no pro-rated fee for signing up. If you wish to play after the start of the season, you must pay the full registration fee.

Does the league provide jerseys or do I wear a specific color shirt?

SM Coed Soccer does not provide jerseys. However, your captain may decide to purchase team jerseys. If you do not wish to purchase a jersey, you may wear a similar colored shirt/jersey. Jerseys do not have to be uniform but they must be numbered and similar in color.

Where does my registration fee go? What does my registration fee pay for?

Your membership fee pays for referee services, field use, light usage fees, equipment, and other league operation costs. You will find that SM Coed soccer is one of the least expensive leagues in our region. We make every attempt to keep costs low for all our members.

I played in the league last season but I would like to change teams…Please let me know if you can find a spot for me on another team. – My team is not returning this season but I would still like to play in the league. How do I get on another team?

Send us a message to smcoedsoccer@smcoedsoccer.com and we will make every attempt to find you a suitable team

Does the league play In Inclement Weather? How do we get signed up for field closure text message alerts?

Calvert and St. Mary’s County Recreation and Parks will close the athletic fields if the fields are saturated. All closures will be posted online by 9:00 a.m. of any given game day.

Will there be make-up games for games canceled due to inclement weather?
SMCOED Soccer will make every attempt to make up as many rained-out games as possible. However, we are subject to field availability and compete with several other sports leagues for field time. We cannot guarantee that a game will be made up but we will make every attempt to do so.

How long are the games?

Our games are two forty-minute halves with a five minute halftime break. Game length may be adjusted to accommodate more teams.

Is this an over 30 league or over 18 league?

SMCOED Soccer is open to all adults, 18 or over. We do not have age brackets or divisions. If you are interested in an over-30 league, please send a message indicating your interest to smcoedsoccer@smcoedsoccer.com. If enough players are available for a “Master” division, we will work on getting one started.

How long is the season?
We generally play 10 games per season plus playoff for teams that qualify. Our schedule is dependent on field availability. We have to deal with a major field shortage in the area but we will work with Parks and Rec. to get as many games as possible played during a season.

I’ve never played soccer but I’ve gotten more into over the last couple years since my kids started playing. I’d like to play so long as there’s more individuals like me. Are there any beginners in the league?

Yes, we have several beginner and intermediate players as well as some very skilled players. Please do not be discouraged by a lack of experience. We welcome ALL adult players to our league regardless of skill level.

My wife and I both are interested on playing on a team. Can we play get placed on the same team?

Yes, simply let us know when you register and we will place you both on the same team.

Do the teams practice at all through the week?

Team practice is left to individual teams but generally, there are no practices held.

I was looking online for a women’s soccer team and found your website. I just wanted a little more information. Are all the teams co-ed or are there any women’s teams? If they are all co-ed, are there many women who play or is it mostly men?

Our leagues are coed leagues and we do have many female players of all skill levels. We occasionally try to form women’s league depending on interest and number of available players. If you are interested in a women’s league, send a message to smcoedsoccer@smcoedsoccer.com for updates.

I missed the registration; had to work. Am I still able to register? If so, what is my next step; obviously registration form and payment.

Yes, we will make every effort to get you on a team prior to the start of the season but we may have to place you on a temporary team until we can find a permanent team for you to join.

Can I play on more than one team?

Yes but you must register and pay a membership for each team.

A couple of my friends and I were interested in playing on an adult league this summer. We were wondering if there was any way we could be put on the same team. Can we register the group as a team if we don’t have enough for an entire team? What is the minimum/maximum number of players per roster? Is there a limit to the number of women on the roster?

You must have at least 12 players on your roster. There is no maximum limit to the number of players. However, consider that if you place too many players on one team, your players will probably not get enough playing time. There is not limit to the number of women on the roster but you must have at least two women on the field at all time in the recreational division and at least one female player on the field for a competitive team.
